"When beauty amongst kin
Bloomed like flowers in a ken
When Innocence reigned
Like life's Queen entranced"
The sincerely curious student and carefree young woman lived life's every minute in
innocent unconscious relish. I am thankful to my family, friends and teachers who
encouraged me. Sometimes I feel that it was a selfish life where I mindlessly pursued
every goal, however innocuous with the energy and faithful confidence of the restless
young. But, when I realise that these endeavours were undertaken with the companionship
of friends and family through which learning important life skills became the natural result, I
cannot think it selfish.
"A little sparrow opened its eyes
and fell in love with the skies"
Those were the times when the unbinding enthusiasm led you through every arena around
you , be it the dramatic interpretations of lessons learnt , the excitement of choosing the
most important news to read at school, the thrill in discovering the mysterious facts of the
world in a library, debating the choices of tragic heroines of your books, attending inter
school project competitions, exultation when your teacher loved best the consoling prizewinning play you directed, watering plants and political discussions with Grand Dad, hours
of scorching cricket, long walks in the beach, inspiring debates among family about a
movie or social cause, simple nothingness with friends that are life's treasured moments,
house keeping with Grandmother, finding misplaced objects at home for elders as a daily
happening with vigour, adventures with cousins, some rebellion in school and home alike,
joining in all school activities and discovering your aspirations, the sincere shame after a
failed exam and seemingly insurmountable class work piled up before the young
mind;were all the little things that made me what iam today. It was a whorl of a life that led
me a merry dance in every experience. This fulfilling life where the interest to do
something is blind to every obstacle ,where your love and attraction for the world propelled
you in every enchanting direction was an achievement.
"With every chirp she sent around
Thousand chirps more came abound"
It isn't the presence of activity alone but the absence of the word 'no' in our mind's
vocabulary that makes us whole. I emerged out of this eventful world as a bird that flew in
adventurous abandon weaving beautiful moments and relationships, ready to discover
life's next phase as an adult; a wife, homemaker and mother. My bunked college days
were mostly spent in interesting conversations and playing ludo with onions and garlic
pods with my grandmothers, all the while admiring them bicker in the way only siblings
can do, or in beautiful travel to ancient temples or inside the leaves of a book. To say i got
a warning to not miss classes due to my holidays and involvement in Dramatics and
sports in college is not an exaggeration. But even so I got the full guidance of the same
teachers. The mishapennings also make these memories whole. The appreciations or the
sad failures in many occasions cannot be differntiated, for in its richness of experience it
completes me.
"Jewels hoarded along the way
In life's every unplanned sway"
As I close this reflective essay; I would like to say that all time well spent will be
achievements in life. Well spent time in exploration, friendhip, familial love, travel, happy
volunteering in social activities that teach us companionship are the great little
achievements that define life.Let us recall the spirit of childhood into our lives and show our children the true essence of
life.
Luzury, isolating hobbies, lazy contemplations, meaningless browsing and mindless
networking has played a spoiler in our naturally rich lives and rendered us wasteful
deceivers of the biggest gift of life, time. Coloring time beautifully is a great achievement.

Colouring time, yes. Sounds right if life is a painting.
